What does it take to be a staff member?
AnthrOhio staff volunteer a significant amount of time before and after the convention to ensure that the convention is a success.
They attend monthly meetings online, and are expected to attend the convention unless other arrangements are made.
Few staff positions require previous experience, or deep knowledge of any one subject.
Generally, AnthrOhio needs staff members with the following attributes:
- Sufficient free time to devote to staff meetings, the convention itself, and duties related to the convention
- Enthusiasm for contributing their best to the convention
- Well organized and able to keep on track with convention tasks

Open Positions
ADA Coordinator
We are looking for an ADA Coordinator that can make sure the public entity they work for meets its Title II responsibilities. They will be the lead resource for accessibility and disability nondiscrimination regulations and will work with the various departments of the convention to verify they comply with all Title II requirements.
Social Media Manager
We are looking for a person that can answer questions, interact with people and post on behalf of the convention on multiple social media platforms. These duties also entail scheduling posts for the future, keeping content plans on schedule with other teams of the convention, and watching metrics across the various social media platforms.
Archivist
The Archivist maintains records, documents, photographs, and historical artifacts relating to the convention going back its roots as Morphicon Zero in 2003. Duties for this role are researching and collecting additional documentation and photography from missing convention information as well as attaining the permission to utilize this information in our records.
Auxiliary Events Co-Coordinator
We like to host multiple events per year outside of the convention and we are looking for a Co-Coordinator to help with these events. As a co-coordinator, you would be assisting in the scheduling, managing, and running the events as well as working with the Web, Art, and Social Media teams for visibility for these events.
Charity Staff
Charity team members have a passion for working with people and working with the charities team. Some of these responsibilites include aiding the team with collecting and organizing items for the yearly charity auction, helping get the charity auction get set up and being a liaison with the current charity that is working with AnthrOhio.
Con Ops Staff
Convention Operations is in charge of incident logs, complaint and suggestion forms, they manage lost and found and help any department that needs help at that current time. Con ops does many more things than what’s listed and is always helping in many ways. If you’d like to help the convention be the well oiled machine that we’ve built it up to be, consider joining Con Ops.
Con Store Sales Associate
Con Store Sales Associates assist customers and congoers through the buying and obtaining process for merchandise. Duties involved are greeting customers, helping them find specific products and processing purchases through a point-of-sale process as well as getting congoers their merchandise that they get through higher tiers of membership.
Copywriter
Do you have a penchant for creating well thought out, clear and concise wordings for any occasion and don’t mind helping others proofread their wording to verify that what will be provided to the public is correct and error free?
If so, then please consider being a copywriter for AnthrOhio to help each department word things in the appropriate way and manner that helps the convention overall.
Dealers’ Den Assistant
Dealer’s Den staff are expected to monitor the Den during open hours, communicate with vendors, and provide support where needed for den needs that come up during the con weekend.
Gopher Night Lead
Volunteers are vital to AnthrOhio but there is some people on staff that help coordinate and lead these volunteers to make sure their help each year is as impactful as possible. We are looking for a Night Lead to help with the Gophers in the later evenings of the convention, specifically after 9 pm until the end of the nightly scheduled activities. Due to the late hours for which this position is responsible, the Gopher Night Lead will not have any additional responsibilities outside of these hours
Hospitaliy Staff
The hospitality suite provided at AnthrOhio has been helping attendees stay hydrated and their appetites satiated for years. We are in need of staff for the Hospitality room to help keep the tables cleaned, the refrigerators stocked and handing out items to attendees to keep this department running as smoothly as possible.
HR Staffer
AnthrOhio is looking for staff to help in Human Resources.
Photographer
AnthrOhio is looking for a photographer to join the team to help capture the memorable moments at our events and to provide them to Publications in a timely manner so we can share the convention experience to everyone, even if they are unable to join us in person.
Programming Docent
Docents are a very important staff position that help setup a panel room with all of the equipment and room configuration for an upcoming panel. There are more things that a docent does as well that would include working with the panelist directly to communicate with the convention staff, verifying posted room schedules and potentially checking badges and/or age checkers, as needed.
Publications Co-lead
Publications is in need of a co-lead for the department that would be interested in learning how the department works and can help in the many various ways that is needed. Some of the skills that would be used are helping with publishing materials, organizing and keeping timelines, editorial judgement and attention to detail. Leadership and team management skills are also very important as a lot of things are in motion for publications to work as expected.
Videographer
We are looking for a videographer that can work on a variety of projects such as corporate videos, marketing materials for events, documentaries and even films. The duties involved with this role are capturing, editing, producing video content which entails planning shoots, operating cameras, managing lighting and editing the footage.
