2023–2025 Charity Recap for Ohio Nature Education

In 2023, we selected Ohio Nature Education (ONE) to be our Charitable Recipient. We chose ONE because of their commitment to creating awareness and appreciation for Ohio’s natural wildlife. Their organization is home to over 40 wild animals. At their facility, they have created an environment allowing their team to provide a safe haven for rescued wildlife and to host educational programs that utilize and incorporate the animals that they have rescued.

During their tenure with AnthrOhio, our very own art team collaborated with ONE to create additional opportunities to do fundraising that went beyond our standard Charity Auction. Our art team created two unique designs that were used to sell merchandise via tote bags, printed art, and T-shirts. Additionally, our friends over at Tasty Dawg also worked with ONE to create a unique menu item that was sold in their downtown Columbus restaurant.

Over the course of 3 years, AnthrOhio has helped raise a grand total of $40,436.50 for this wonderful organization. We look forward to seeing what new things are on the horizon for our new members of the AnthrOhio family at Ohio Nature Education.

A note from the President of Ohio Nature Education:

On the evening of November 11, 2022, I received an email message from Sarah Roberts with the subject heading, “We would like to fundraise for your group!” That got my attention!  She introduced herself and the organization, AnthrOhio, and provided some information about their annual conference, including what we could expect.

I had never heard of furries before, but as a grassroots nonprofit organization, we decided to meet via Zoom with some of AnthrOhio’s staff and volunteers. We moved forward with being the charity for 2023 and ended up being the charity for 2024 and 2025! In those three years, the staff and volunteers of AnthrOhio have helped us raise over $36,000! Fundraising is essential for helping us provide a home for 50 non-releasable wild animals. Most importantly, we had a great time interacting with the conference attendees and forging friendships with those involved with AnthrOhio.

We cannot say enough about AnthrOhio. The level of organization and activities offered during the weekend experience is exceptional! Ohio Nature Education has been around for 28 years. During that time, we have conducted and attended more than 5,000 programs and events, making contact with over 800,000 members of the public. Never have we attended such a large event with so many kind, appreciative, and like-minded people.

We are eternally grateful for the support of AnthrOhio staff, volunteers, and attendees.

Sincerely,
Manon VanSchoyck – “Mrs. Van”
